Pitch DayAugust 26, 2022On August 26th, 2022, Courtney Johnson and I pitched our project called the Pen Pal Project in hopes to make it a reality. Courtney and I are both passionate about young children and the elderly in our community and wanted to find a way to connect the two. Upon brainstorming we thought a pen pal project would be a great way to do this. We did research and saw that the previous year a student attempted the same project and din't have the best outcome. But Courtney and I realized this was mainly due to the old activities director who put little effort into the project. I currently work at Woodland Terrace so it was easy to get in touch with the new director and form a plan. We decided to have residents at Woodland Terrace write and receive letters from students at Sugar Creek Elementary and New Palestine High School. The residents would write a letter one week and receive a letter the next week and so on and so forth. They would do this for about 2 months and at the end of the project we would have a "meet day" where the pen pals could meet each other in person.
